Art Jakarta returns for its 2026 edition from 2 to 4 October at JIExpo Kemayoran. The flagship fair follows Art Jakarta Papers and Art Jakarta Gardens which happened in February and May respectively. Art Jakarta 2026 will feature 75 galleries from across Indonesia and beyond. 33 galleries arrive from overseas, and 19 are first-time participants.
This edition will debut AJ SCOPE, a new section supported by National Talent Management for Arts and Culture. It will present MTN Market, a platform highlighting emerging Indonesian art fairs and local art communities from outside of Jakarta, such as Mini Art Malang, Artists Art Fair from Pekanburu, ART HEY from Banyumas and more. Fair Director Tom Tandio explains, “We do not want the fair to only reflect what is happening in the established centres. There is a lot happening beyond Jakarta, and AJ Scope is one way for us to help connect those scenes with a wider national and regional audience.”
This edition also welcomes new Main Partners. AIA presents The Living Legacy, a collaboration with the batik maestro Iwan Tirta. Aesop, meanwhile, brings its signature Aesop Women’s Library, an ongoing initiative that brings literature by female authors and local voices. Ahead of the fair’s opening, we speak with five participating galleries about the works they are bringing and their expectations of the edition ahead.
Gajah Gallery

Gajah Gallery returns to Art Jakarta with an intergenerational group of Southeast Asian artists. As Founder Jasdeep Sandhu puts it, “Rather than presenting the artists as a single, unified school or movement, we aim to present different practices that reflect the region’s diverse cultural contexts.” Most artists in the lineup hail from Indonesia, joined by Kayleigh Goh from Malaysia and Han Sai Por from Singapore. Among them, Arin Dwihartanto and Ridho Rizki expand the possibilities of painting through abstraction, gesture and explorations of visual perception. A highlight is Ridho Rizki’s Untitled (A25b) (2025), a painting created using airbrushed pigment. Concurrently, the gallery will host Rizki’s second solo show, Before Meanings, at its Jakarta space from 26 September to 18 October 2026.
BHAK

Seoul gallery BHAK makes their debut at the fair. Director Bryan Bhak says, “We see this as an opportunity to introduce our artists to a new audience, understand the market firsthand, and hopefully build relationships that continue beyond the fair.” The booth features four artists who each work in a distinct language: Sijong Kim, Soonjae, Bo Kim and Yun Woo Seung. In particular, Bo Kim’s My love is your love (2025) layers Hanji, sand and pigment, with washes of rose and ochre worked into the fibre. The work addresses themes of nature, memory and impermanence.
Galerie OVO

Taipei’s Galerie OVO returns for a third consecutive year. Founded in 2012, the gallery focuses on art, technology and sustainability. On the gallery’s return, Founder Julia Tung says, “We hope to further strengthen our relationships within the local art community while continuing to expand the international visibility and perspectives of the artists we represent.” Galerie OVO will present five artists: Aluan Wang, Christine Yiting Wang, Sigit Ramadhan, Muran and Tsai Wei Ting. Of note are three works by Wang from his inkField series. Each piece is a digital print on acrylic, paired with a blockchain certificate. In #Mass_Burst (2026), each stroke is a recorded gesture — its path, speed and pauses stored as data — and a screen on site replays the work forming stroke by stroke.
YUMEKOUBOU Gallery

YUMEKOUBOU Gallery is a Kyoto-based gallery known for Japanese art. It will participate at Art Jakarta for the first time with a solo presentation of contemporary artist Daisuke Ishizuka. Born in 1992, Ishizuka started out in manga before turning to painting. He builds each painting up in layers, then scratched parts away to show what lies beneath. Xinyue Zhang from the gallery’s Sales and Client Relations team reflects on the debut, “We have received an encouraging response in Southeast Asia through fairs such as Art SG in Singapore, and this will also be our first opportunity to introduce Daisuke Ishizuka’s work to audiences in the region.” YUMEKOUBOU Gallery hopes to build new connections between contemporary Japanese art and the wider Asian art community.
SNA Arts Management

Phnom Penh-based SNA Arts Management (SAM) marks its inaugural participation at Art Jakarta. Founder and curator Chum Chanveasna says, “As our first participation in Art Jakarta, one of our main expectations is to introduce Cambodian contemporary art to a wider regional audience and to create greater visibility for Cambodian artists within the Southeast Asian art scene.” SAM will present works by two Cambodian artists, Khvay Samnang and Sao Sreymao. They include a selection from Samnang’s Dragon Farm series alongside his single-channel video Das Pralung (Rousing Spirits) (2024), which draws attention to environmental and social change. SAM also presents Sreymao’s new series Reconstructing (2025) that works through themes of memory, environment and lived experience.
