In the fifth episode of our podcast Art & Market Conversations, A&M Editor Nadya speaks with Zaki Jumahri, who has worked as Senior Legal Counsel at the National Heritage Board and advised on art law matters relating to museums including the National Museum of Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore Art Museum and National Gallery, Singapore. He was also previously Legal Counsel at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Curatorial Trainee at OH! Open House.

In this conversation, they talk about the nascent state of art law in Southeast Asia and the importance for everyone in the regional art community – from an artist to a collector –  to possess a basic understanding of art law. They go through the steps artists can take to protect their intellectual property, and how collectors can minimise risks when investing in an artwork.
