Paintings of Tan Choo Kuan
A compilation to commemorate 40 years (1953-1993) of Tan Choo Kuan’s career, this text features images of Tan’s works alongside a brief biodata and images of a younger Tan. Tan, who worked mostly in oil paintings was prolific in his output, and could finish multiple sketches in a day.
Numerous sketches of scenery in countries such as Canada, Egypt, London and Italy can be found in this publication. Tan travelled often, producing landscape paintings and sketches of the scenery that he loved. Portrait sketches are also found in the book, and he has stated that the chiaroscuro of Rembrandt had deeply influenced him.
