Open Call: 7th VH AWARD for Media Artists
Deadline for Applications: 21 July 2026, KST
The VH AWARD has officially launched the open call for its 7ᵗʰ edition and invites media artists who engage with the context of Asia to participate. Building on its legacy, the 7ᵗʰ VH AWARD reinforces its commitment to fostering a sustainable creative environment. This new edition continues with increased production grants for finalists and the Grand Prix recipient. In addition, it will also introduce a new Honorary Mention category to recognise a broader range of artists and amplify more diverse contemporary voices. These enhancements aim to provide artists with a solid and extensive foundation for pursuing ambitious and experimental projects.
Through the open call, five finalists will be selected, each receiving a production grant to create a new work. The finalists will also participate in an expanded online residency programme, newly developed in partnership with Ars Electronica, the globally renowned media art institution based in Linz, Austria. The programme supports artistic development through masterclasses and workshops. Artists selected for the new Honorary Mention category will also be invited to join selected components of the online residency programme.
In June 2027, one Grand Prix recipient will be announced and receive an additional USD 30,000 to support future artistic endeavors.
The 7ᵗʰ VH AWARD will be conducted in collaboration with artists, curators and arts institutions bringing together diverse areas of expertise and contextual perspectives to examine contemporary developments in media art. The jury includes Christl Baur, Head of Ars Electronica Festival, Sabine Himmelsbach, Director of HEK (House of Electronic Arts), Honor Harger, Director of ArtScience Museum, Massimiliano Gioni, Artistic Director of New Museum and Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joon, an artist duo based in Korea.
The commissioned works by the five finalists will be presented across global platforms, including: Hyundai Motor Group’s Vision Hall, Yongin, Korea; HEK (House of Electronic Arts), Basel, Switzerland; Ars Electronica Festival, Linz, Austria and Singapore Art Week 2028, Singapore.
