Call for Submissions: Southeast Asian Art Writing
The Art & Market Fresh Take writing contest returns for its seventh year. We are seeking critical and creative voices to explore and analyse the Southeast Asian art landscape.
We welcome a range of formats, from exhibition reviews and critical essays to creative fiction in the form of ekphrasis, poetry and creative nonfiction. For this edition, we are particularly looking for reviews and critical essays. We will not be accepting Q&A-style interview articles.
Guidelines
Tone: Please review the content on artandmarket.net to ensure your entry aligns with our editorial voice.
Images: Do embed images within the article and caption them according to the Art & Market house style.
Wordcount: Up to 1,200 words, not including image captions, with no minimum requirement.
Eligibility
The entries must not have been published before, and each applicant should only submit one entry. There are no age or geographical restrictions.Prizes

Winners will also work with Art & Market editors to publish their entries.
Submission
Submit via this [Google Form] by 31 August 2026, 11.59pm (GMT+8). We will notify all applicants of the outcome by 14 September 2026.
