OPEN CALL | Creative Edit

Creative Edit seeks literary responses to Southeast Asian art

March to May

A&M Creative Edit is where we publish a creative written response to an ongoing exhibition that features Southeast Asian artists and themes. In this open call, we are looking for inventive texts that add a literary interpretive layer to the exhibition, or act as a reimagination of the curatorial gestures embedded in the presentation. We will select submissions to be published on a rolling basis, with the open call running until 31 May 2026, 11.59pm (GMT+8).

We invite submissions of ekphrasis, lyric pieces, poetry, microfiction and creative non-fiction.

Eligibility:

  • We welcome microfiction, creative non-fiction, and lyric pieces of up to 1,000 words. Poetry and ekphrasis are to be limited to a maximum of 100 lines on an A4 document.

  • Participants of all ages and from any location are eligible to participate in the open call, provided the entries are original, and have not been previously published.

  • Exhibitions chosen for the creative response should have a strong connection to Southeast Asia, either featuring Southeast Asian artists, or engage with the contexts of Southeast Asia.

  • If there are non-English phrases or if the work is a translation from a non-English language, please include both the original language script, as well as a translation in English. The work will be considered based on the English translation.

Submission & Deadline:

  • We will select submissions to be published on a rolling basis, with the open call running until 31 May 2026, 11.59pm (GMT+8).

  • Please submit only one creative piece. We will not accept multiple entries during this open call.

  • To submit, please complete this Google Form. We will notify you if we wish to publish your submission.

You can view examples of what we are looking for in our Creative Edit column here.
