Art Jakarta Returns for 2025

Art Jakarta returns for 2025 with Lead Partners Julius Baer, Bibit, Treasury and BCA. They are presenting the works of both established and emerging Indonesian artists. At the Julius Baer VIP Lounge is the Postcard from the Alps series by Indonesian artist Eddie Hara, who is based in Basel, Switzerland. He will also be showing a new tongue-in-cheek artwork CALL 911. DESTROY BAD ART. Similarly, Bibit will be showing an artwork by an established Indonesian artist Agus Suwage, titled Self Portrait and the Theatre Stage. It will be presented together with a programme, themed “Portraits of Possibilities” for fair-goers to interact with the work.

Treasury and BCA are working with younger artists. Treasury will present an installation called Reserve of Care, together with artists Azizi Almajid and Nuri Fatimah, who won the second Treasury Art Prize. And BCA will present an installation at the myBCA booth by artist Muklay, in collaboration with Palette Studio.
Altogether, 75 galleries are taking part, including Artinformal Gallery, EDSU House, Esther Schipper, Kaikai Kiki Gallery and Nan Ke Gallery, which are joining for the first time. Artistic Director Enin Supriyanto says, “We hope that Art Jakarta 2025 will spark optimism and excitement for art market activities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.” He adds, “The Art Jakarta team has been working diligently to earn the trust of gallery managers from across the nation and beyond.”
Complementing the gallery booths is Art Jakarta Spot, where visitors can experience large-scale, site-specific solo projects. Located within the Gallery section are the works of Ardi Gunawan with Sanhkara Art, Ipeh Nur with ara contemporary, Endry Pragusta with Rachel Gallery, Aditya Novali with Roh Projects, and Adi Gunawan with ISA Art Gallery.

One of the highlights of Art Jakarta is Art Jakarta Scene. This section will showcase a wide range of contemporary artistic expressions from across Indonesia to complement the gallery-represented works. In total, 32 artist collectives, studios and independent projects will offer artworks, objects, merchandise and publications to contribute to a vibrant fair. They include Mus≡ Art Merchandise from Jakarta, DGTMB Shop and Krack! from Yogyakarta, gelap ruang jiwa from Bandung, and more.
And lastly, AJX has three programmes this year. The first is Korea Focus featuring 12 Korean galleries in collaboration with the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Arts Management Service. The second is a showcase of Indonesian artists themed “Arus Baru” or “Rising Currents”, together with cultural partner Manajemen Talenta Nasional, a national strategic programme dedicated to nurturing Indonesian talent. And the third is a collaboration with Natta-Cita Art Space from ISI Bali, which will present Balinese contemporary art.

As Art Jakarta grows from strength to strength every year, it continuously innovates to bring fresh programming to its visitors. The new fair Art Jakarta Papers 2026, which will be held from 5 to 8 February 2026 to highlight paper-based contemporary art in Indonesia, will be previewed at Art Jakarta this year.
